2026 MyFriendTerri.com Golf Event Set for September 27, 2026: A tribute to Dad
The 8th annual fundraiser renamed in honor of Terri’s father, Chuck Pickering, who passed in late June 2026.
On June 28, 2026, we lost a great man. Charles W. Pickering, Jr., affectionally known as Chuck or Pick, passed away at the age of 83. Chuck created this golf event as a fundraiser for his eldest daughter Terri who was diagnosed with ALS in 2015. Chuck put his heart and soul into raising critical funds needed to keep Terri at home with specialized home care. So, it was very easy to see that this event should recognize the man that worked so hard to get it started over 10 years ago. Effective this year, the 8th MyfriendTerri.com Golf Tournament will now be known as the Charles Pickering Memorial Golf Classic benefitting Terri Saenz and the ALS TDI. The family is asking golfers to attend wearing their favorite Hawaiian tropical shirt. Thank you for participating in this critical fundraiser.
Terri, her husband/caregiver Jeff, and the entire family are heartbroken about Chuck’s passing. But Terri & Jeff know they have to keep fighting this horrible disease with grace and dignity as they have for the last 11 years. The Saenz family treasures life and do all to make their situation a positive one. Yes, they’ve truly made lemonade out of the lemons life has thrown at them! The fee to golf remains the same at $125 per golfer. Teams of four are $500. The golf fee includes registration welcome at 8:00 am with coffee. We will have a shotgun start at 9:00 am. You will enjoy 18 holes of golf, scramble format with cart, course contests, and gift prizes. Lunch & soft drinks will be served on the course.
Following the golf is a fun dinner reception with a fabulous prize raffle, full dinner, and a cash bar. Ticket to attend the dinner only for non-golfers is $50 per person. Terri and Jeff will be at the banquet ready to thank you for your support again this year!
This event will benefit Terri and the 501c3 non-profit ALS Therapy Development Institute in Boston. This research firm is dedicated solely to find treatments and cures for ALS. Learn more about TDI at www.ALS.net. Sponsorships are available for lunch, dinner, and individual holes.
