How can I help Terri in this battle vs. ALS?

Since the fall of 2014, Terri Saenz has been living her best life despite having a terminal disease. Many of us cannot even imagine what that might mean. One day your children grow up, move out, start their own lives. As empty nesters, Terri and Jeff learned of her diagnosis at a time when they were about to begin the next phase of their lives.

Ten years later, Terri and Jeff are still striving for their American dream. But, their life looks much different than they imagined. Don’t get me wrong. They are very positive, uplifting people that cherish their family, friends and their community. But they have to navigate each day with Terri living her life in a wheelchair. She is 100% dependent on others to feed, bath, cloth and care for her each day. Jeff is her caregiver with help from Jeff’s mom, Terri’s sister Leigh, Terri’s dad, family, friends, and a homecare aid they contract to come into the house several days each week. This homecare service is paid out of pocket by the Saenz Family. And it isn’t cheap. They easily pay the cost of a large home mortgage each month to get additional care services.

So often times the family is asked how they can help. Prayers are always welcome of course, but the best way to help is donation towards the homecare services. Right now its just a few hours during the business week, but soon, Terri will require additional care, perhaps around the clock. Without assistance from external resources, the average family fighting ALS will go into bankruptcy. So how can you help? Easy – with a monetary donation. Check out the Donate page on this website for all the options you can help. Many of these donation functions have small service fees to the companies that host, so we recommend writing a check or using Venmo (@GeoffreySaenz) for 100% of your donation going to the family.

Prayers and thanks to the community who continue to lift this family up. They are forever grateful to the support they’ve received over the journey of 10 years. Praying for a cure! Thank you.
